Who Is Ahmad Safwan?

Hi, I’m Ahmad Safwan, I started working at 23 years old as a café manager, head barista, and head roaster at Asylum Coffeehouse. I entered the coffee industry during COVID, initially out of circumstance, but I chose to stay because of the relationships and connections I built with customers walking through the door. Coffee became more than just a job — it kept me alive during a difficult season. The stories I heard, the conversations I had, and the shared experiences with regulars made every day meaningful and interesting.
In 2023, I competed in the Singapore National Brewers Cup and finished as 2nd runner-up. That experience challenged me to refine my skills and push myself beyond my comfort zone. After three years, I moved to Bettr Barista as a coffee specialist and head barista. I strongly value the company’s vision and mission as a social enterprise — empowering youth-at-risk and single women through education and employment opportunities. Being part of something larger than just serving coffee gave my work even greater purpose.
At 28 years old, I made a transition into financial consultancy. I carried the values I learned in coffee into finance — focusing on helping people manage their finances while building long-term relationships. Just like in coffee, I believe in building genuine friendships and trust first before doing business. Within six months, I achieved my first MDRT, a milestone made possible through competency, consistency, and the trust people placed in me.
